Winterizing

It's winter in the northern hemisphere, reader. Snow, ice, wind chills that make you want to cry, but you have to fight it because what if your tears freeze?

And, if you're like me, dry skin. I get flakey dry skin on my jaw and forehead. My hands beg for moisture and ache whenever I touch something without having put on lotion first. I even get little dry patches on my arms and legs. TMI? Probably, but I'm not chaining you here, dear reader. You're allowed to look away.

But please stay, because I'm going to talk about how I HANDle it all. (Was that too much? It was too much. Sorry.)

I posted on Instagram about some of my favorite hand creams. I'm very into Lollia and Library of Flowers, which are both small batch parfumerie products made by Margot Elena. They smell amazing, aren't greasy, and leave my hands feeling soft. I got one in a Birchbox a couple years ago, and I haven't been able to quit them. It doesn't hurt that the packaging is darling, so I feel a little like a princess using it.

For my legs and arms, however, I try to avoid scented lotions. I just want something that sinks in and works well. I used Eucerin for a while, which definitely works, but while it's unscented, that doesn't mean it didn't have a scent. And what a medicine cabinet scent it was. I have since shifted over to St. I've daily hydrating vitamin E lotion, which is soothing and gentle, but also doesn't leave me smelling like a doctor's office.

Finally, doe my face I have a night cream and a day cream. In the day I turn to Yes to Carrots clear skin daily balancing moisturizer, which smells kind of like vegetables, but it's not unpleasant. At night, I like to later on Kiehl's ultra facial cream. It's intense, but not greasy or heavy.

And guzzling water constantly doesn't hurt either.

And there you have it. My tools for surviving winter dry skin dilemmas.

What are you favorite products/tricks/tips for keeping your skin hydrated in the harsh winter months?
